What wing are you looking to wear today?
Taylor Glynn, beauty and health assistant at Marie Claire, says that you need to know what look you are going for. "For a subtle feline flick you'll want to do a skinnier line and a smaller wing. But for a bold, sixties style cat eye, you'll need to go thicker, and bigger, so plan accordingly." She recommends using a felt tip for the most precision, and she loves MAC Cosmetic's Superhero Liner.
Step 1-Start lining: "Start in the inner corner of your eye and draw a line that follows the natural curve of your eye in the desired thickness," says Glynn. "Then, just fill in the space."
Step 2- Do your wings: Glynn comments that she prefers to do her wings after the initial liner is done. She "stops at her outer corners and repeats on the other eye so that the wings are both completely dry." To 'wing it', "she likes to start from the very end of her wing and go back towards her eye, which helps her angle it a little bit better. She likes to angle it towards the very end of the tail of her eyebrow, because that upward angle makes her eyes look a little bit more open.
Step 3- Finish it up: After that, she drags it towards her eye, and then she just fills in the space between the two lines. Then she just connects it to the line she already made!
One tip Glynn stresses is that beginners must start small. This gives you a little bit of wiggle room to adjust the wings. Doing this will prevent looking like a raccoon or a panda!
Clean up: USE QTIPS!!! Add a little bit of eye makeup remover to the q-tip. If the liner is still wet, no makeup remover is needed. Glynn also recommends using moisturizer on the q-tip.
Good luck!
